The Story
Urban Adventure Gear is a one stop shop for all your urban gear needs. Combining the best from several genres; outdoors, bike skate, board, fashion, gadget and street, it aims to bring you the kit you need for your day to day adventures in and out of the city.
Urban Adventure Gear is brought by the guys behind the Rat Race Urban Adventure Series, the urban racing phenomenon sweeping the streets of the UK’s most interesting cities. Headed up by John Laughlin, a former Rat Race winner and regular podium finisher in adventure races across the UK and Europe, he aims to bring personal service to every customer.
Interesting thing is that we made a first contact with the John in February 2007 immediately after he suffered hacker attack. Not too much damage was done after the hacker accessed FTP account with an easy-to-guess password. Couple of files were deleted, but the database was intact which was a good news. After quick fix, we agreed to build a completely new shop based on Urban Adventure Gear existing identity and the CRE Loaded solution.
The Work
The first step was design development. There was a shop before and we improved its design to a new level. New design was optimized for 1024×768 resolution, content had much more space, usability was improved and many more details added.
After the design acceptance, we moved to the webshop development process. Beside standard functionalities, we also enabled discount coupons, Gift Vouchers purchase (only for registered customers), Newsletter subscription and blog integration.
